1969 Shasta Stratoflyte Owners: Clos Family - Location: Greenville, MI Keeping it in the family is important to the Clos family. Their Shasta came from Tamee's Uncle who had owned it for 25+ years before passing it on to the Clos's. Chris says that the 300 mile trip home with it was a little scary with no trailer brakes, but they made it home to Greenville safely. "We went for the Vintage Shasta for a few reasons. One of them being the following of the Vintage's we found kind of neat. The other being cost." Chris says. "It has a few fixer upper stuff to do yet before we can go somewhere to camp. We have camped a few times in our front yard.. was fun, and comfortable for the size of our family." Although Chris is a computer guy, and not that much of a "fixer-upper", he says that he has fixed the original refrigerator to now run on electric by replacing the heating element. He did his research and with the part from a local retailer, found out that the job wasn't nearly as daunting as first thought. Both the gas and electric now work! Chris relates that "I am a system administrator for a large bank, and my hobbies are computers. But I have found quite a hobby in this Shasta. It has given me something to do besides sit in front of a computer all day!" With a few more updates planned for the Shasta, it sure sounds like the family will still be enjoying this "Vintage" Shasta trailer for years to come! |
