1957 Shasta and 1957 Chevy

Owners:
Steve and Loretta Conway

Location: Canoga Park, CA

Loretta writes that, "We are an average couple living in Southern California, and we owned a red 1957 Chevy. One day, we were at a Car Show and saw a rare entry of a 1957 Chevy and 1957 Shasta red and white trailer owned by a couple from Canada. It really caught our eye, because at that time, few people were restoring old trailers. We wrote down the year and make of the trailer and started searching our local Recycler. Within two weeks we had found one! We called and called, and finally caught the guy as he was getting home from work. We arranged to meet at his place. We were the first ones there, and he didnt have time to call anyone else, so he sold it to us. At the time it was just an old trailer he used for fishing and we took it home right then.

We took the old ugly yellow and white trailer and made it into a cute red and white trailer within 2 months, so now it matches our red 57 Chevy. It was actually fun, because guys can do things like paint, dents, upholstery, electrical, wood, tires, etc.....and the girls can do curtains, bedding, etc. not to mention, the organizational stuff with filling the trailer with necessities.

Along the way we picked up a 1957 Glastron boat, and of course it matches too. We have great fun camping, car shows, and the finale is when we were in Super Chevy last February. Anyone can own a new RV, but I think these classic old trailers have much more style."
