Welcome to VintageShastas.com!
I have started this website believing that it will help people in their search for all things Shasta and/or vintage trailer related. We are noticing quite an interest lately in "Vintage Travel Trailers" on the internet and in RV circles everywhere! This site could be used as a jumping off point to a lot of other interesting sites out there, but first, while you're here, take a look around and see if any of this information helps you on your quest for

"Online Resources for Vintage Travel Trailers"...

Thank you,

6/23/08 * * SHASTA IS BACK! - 2009 Shasta Airflyte Model Announced!!! * *
Just released to the general public... Click here for a pdf brochure of the new Airflyte 12 or an Official Press Release

Coachman Industries has announced that they will start building new Shasta trailers as 2009 models and Shasta will be its own brand of trailers again. They will have them available for sale in dealer showrooms in about 30 days. I spoke to Bill Martin, VP of Marketing at Coachman Industries this morning and he said that the Airflyte 12 was the first of 2 or 3 new Shasta models coming from Coachman. The other 2 models may also be ready for the public later this year.

I personally think that this is wonderful news for all vintage trailer owners, especially the vintage Shasta owners out there. These new trailers will help bring back the recognition of the original trailers that we all love so dearly and help introduce a whole new generation of RV fans to the appeal of "vintage" trailering.

It's no coincidence that Coachman has integrated some of the best features of the "vintage" trailers into the new Airflyte. It is a very faithful rendition to the Airflyte models from the late 1950's / early 1960's. Only it has been updated and modernized to attract new buyers that want something "retro" with a bathroom, A/C, a water heater, etc. already built in. One thing to note on the new Shastas is the fact that there is no propane to worry about. These models are all electric and come with a 2 burner portable cooktop, Microwave, TV and DVD player (optional), and a cool retro clock.

A big thing to take into consideration is the lightweight aspect of the new trailers. Slightly less than 2500 pounds empty and capable of taking along another 1000 lbs of equipment puts this trailer in a great market. It can still be towed by many minivans and smaller SUVs/trucks/cars. Some with 6 cylinder engines too. This might allow people to actually save some money on gas compared to other RVs of the same size or larger. And who doesn't want that these days! This lightweight aspect is one of the things that make our "vintage" models so great!

No doubt that Coachman has hit the mark on this model and the whole concept of "Vintage Trailer", I hope they sell like hot cakes and help make Shasta a leader in RV's once again. I'm sure there are some faithful trailerites out there that will bemoan the fact that it has no front or rear window and not birch wood on the interiors and other things like this, but overall, what's to complain about? To me, it looks like a trailer that Shasta would have built all along, if they had still been making trailers these last few years. Airstream has kept true to their roots with the bullet shaped aluminum-shell body and updated and modernized interiors, now Shasta has the chance to do that with the ones we all like best.

More info and more photos coming soon!

5/15/08 * * We Have New Frappr Map!! * *
I created a new Frappr map to help us all relate to one another just that much more. On the map you can put a virtual pushpin showing where you're from and let others get a sense of where they are communicating with. This was a suggestion taken directly from our VintageShastas.com forum and is something I've been wanting to do for quite some time now. It might help us create more of a community atmosphere here at VintageShastas.com and that's what we're all about! So add yourself next chance you get, it's a simple thing to do.

2/13/08 * * Updates to Gallery and Resources * *
Added a few more pics to the Gallery section that were sent to us by proud owners of thier Shastas!
Also, several of the Resource Pages have been updated to add more sources for Awnings and a DIY $50 Paint job.

12/11/07 * * New Mug Designs In Store * *
I have added several new designs to the store and now have mugs for sale to add to your decor. They are both Shasta specific and general vintage trailer designs. There is even a pink one for "Breast Cancer Awareness" (all proceeds going to our continued support of the "Pink Winged Warrior".)
All of these mugs would compliment any decor of any vintage trailer so get some for yourself or anyone else that may be into vintage trailering. These would also be very helpful for that morning cup of coffee or any hot chocolate around a campfire at night!
See the mugs here.

11/29/07 * * New Featured Shasta * *
Congratulations to Philip and Reneé and the entire "Z-Team" for the wonderful job restoring a pre-wing 1956 Shasta. This trailer is absolutely gorgeous both inside and out! It has been updated very nicely while keeping a lot of the vintage charm and is truly an inspiration to us all. Check it out by clicking the link to the left.

11/21/07 * * Updates to the Rally Info Page * *
So far 2008 is shaping up to be a great year to go camping with other vintage trailer lovers out there! We have added information about several more gatherings going on in 2008 — So don't miss your opportunity to meet up with others in your area.

If you know of any other Rallies or Gatherings going on in 2008, please drop us a note with any more information.

9/20/06 * * Our New Forum Location * *
We have moved our VintageShastas.com forum today to here. Please stop by and post anything Shasta/vintage trailer related to the forum and don't forget to bookmark the site for future reference.

I will be locking the topics of the old forum at the end of September, but will leave the forum up for another 6 months or so (unless I can transfer all the posts and other info to the new forum easily). This move will allow for better service from the forum and no more questionable ads or photohosting problems in the future.

This is the first of our new features on VintageShastas.com and there are more to follow soon. I'm looking into a user friendly photo gallery to allow posting of your trailer photos, and possibly a blogging feature to allow you to have your own trailer blog on this site. These things will help build our online trailer community, and allow you to show off your own Shasta or Vintage Trailer! Look for these things in the weeks to come...

9/16/06 * * One Year So Far... * *
The first year of VintageShastas.com has been truly amazing. I am very proud to be a part of something that is so much fun for myself and for others out there in the vintage trailer community. THANK YOU ALL for your support and encouragement! Nearly 25000 hits in only 1 year...and getting more all the time – WOW!

I have completed the transfer of the site over to a new hosting service which will allow for more features and more traffic here at VintageShastas.com. These features will be rolling out in the near future, so look for them to be announced in this space very soon. This move has been possible through the proceeds collected from the VintageShastas Store. Thanks to all that have purchased items from there over the past year, and also to those who will purchase in the future. The new "Shastaland" design is selling like hotcakes and is available in sweatshirts for the colder months ahead.

There are recent additions to the Vintage Links page on this site. I have added some links to a few of the recently restored Shastas and other Trailers. There a couple of "photo blogs" showing the before and after pics and descriptions. These are always great to see and are very inspiring to the rest of us out there. Keep up the great work and send me any more links you can find like these.

A few months ago I decided to put the classifieds section on the VintageShastaTrailers forum so it would be self directed and would not be limited to just Shastas. This has been a successful transition and it seems to be working very well. Please keep it up to date and add any items you wish to sell, or things you are needing.

There have been some great emails recieved from other Shasta owners out there, and I try to answer as many as possible. Sometimes it takes me a little while to get back with an answer, so please don't take offense if you don't get an instant reply. I am really trying to get to all of them in time...

I am really looking forward to many more years as the webmaster of VintageShastas.com and the chance to help out more folks whenever possible. So, here we go, into year 2...as your online resource for vintage travel trailers!!!

8/14/06 * * New Featured Shasta & More * *
A recent addition to the Featured Shasta is generating lots of buzz on the site. Congratulations to Craig Fraki of Ojai, CA on the wonderful job he has done rebuilding his 1963 Shasta 1500. He did all the work in just a few months time and it turned out beautifully!

Look for a few more Featured Shastas soon, There are some interesting examples coming up that I think you'll enjoy.

On another note, Several new designs have been added to the Vintage Shastas Store recently and more are just about ready. Show your Shasta spirit and get your stuff for yourself, or maybe the Shasta fan you know. Here are a few examples...

7/21/06 * * Updates to the Rally Info Page * *
I have updated the Rally Info page to reflect some of the upcoming rallies going on later this fall. One is in Texas and another in California, in addition to the SWVCA rally set for August in New Mexico. If you know of any others, please let me know and I'll add them too.

6/5/06 * * Gallery Updates * *
Added a couple more images to the Gallery pages. This should help a few more people identify their own trailers. More updates to come as time allows.
